About This Map

Combines topography and satellite mapping, hourly smoke forecasting from the Weather Forecast Research Team at UBC, perimeter data from BC Wildfire, visible infrared hotspots from NASA/FIRMS, and short-delay ADS-B, Mode-S, FLARM and VHF aircraft data from the OpenSky Network.

This gives you a 3d visual view of current aircraft, infrared hotspots and combined WF modeled smoke data and perimeters, fire and evacuation perimeters, Fires of Note, fires that are Out of Control, and fires that are Holding.

Use two fingers to rotate the map, pinch to zoom, or use your scrollwheel and right mouse button to pan. Click on any fire, hotspot, evacuation boundary, or aircraft for more information.

Data Sources:

  • BC Wildfire Service

This is a labour of love, and all data is cached or rate limited as much as possible. I foot the bill for any hosting and API costs associated with this project. Updated June 24, 2026.
